What if holding your breath wasn’t about pushing yourself, but about learning to relax?
In Dahab, surrounded by the clear waters of the Red Sea, join us for a full day of freediving discovery. You’ll learn how your body breathes, what happens when you hold your breath, and how to move underwater with greater calm, confidence, and safety.
This introduction is designed for beginners—even if you have never tried freediving before. The day combines theory, dry exercises, static breath-holding in the water, and your first depth session on a buoy in open water.
No records to break. Just one invitation: slow down, breathe, and discover new sensations.
Dahab is one of the world’s most iconic destinations for freediving. Its crystal-clear water, easy access to depth, and the peaceful atmosphere of the Red Sea make it an ideal setting for a first experience.
But freediving is much more than descending underwater. It is a different way of listening to your body, becoming familiar with your sensations, and discovering the calm that emerges when everything slows down.
During this day, you will be able to:
We begin with an accessible introduction to freediving physiology. You’ll discover how breathing works, why carbon dioxide plays an essential role in the urge to breathe, and how the body adapts when it is without air for a short time.
This theory session replaces common misconceptions with simple, practical reference points. Understanding what you feel helps reduce apprehension and allows you to approach the exercises with greater peace of mind.
In a calm setting, we explore static breath-holding on land. Step by step, you will learn how to prepare your breathing, release unnecessary tension, and observe your sensations without focusing on performance.
This is often the moment when people realise that freediving is less about strength than it is about awareness and relaxation.
We then bring these first skills into the water. With continuous guidance and supervision, you will discover the sensation of floating and the unique calm that comes from remaining still at the surface.
You will also learn the first principles of safety: never practise alone, recognise important signals, and look after your buddy.
The day continues in open water around a freediving buoy fitted with a descent line. After a briefing on equalisation, body position, the duck dive, and safety procedures, you will make your first descents at your own pace.
You will have the opportunity to try:
Depth is never a required goal. Every attempt is adapted to your comfort, your sensations, and your abilities on the day. The most important thing is to discover a smooth and mindful way of moving underwater.
You do not need to be able to dive deep or hold your breath for a long time. This day is for you if you are comfortable in the water, curious to discover freediving, and ready to progress gradually.
Our approach is built on three pillars: confidence, technique, and relaxation. We create a calm environment where you are free to try, ask questions, stop, and begin again. Every participant progresses at their own pace, without comparison and without pressure to perform.
Freediving is always practised with a buddy. Throughout the day, every exercise is explained, supervised, and adapted by a qualified instructor. At sea, descents are completed one person at a time, on a dedicated line, with active supervision and precise safety protocols.
You will leave with more than new sensations: you will also gain the essential foundations for understanding why freediving should never be practised alone.
This freediving discovery day in Dahab is ideal if you:
