FREEDIVING

(The best activity in Dahab)

Dahab is a little paradise for divers in the heart of the Red Sea.

Light winds, gentle currents, superb visibility of up to 35 meters, water temperatures between 20 and 30 degrees all year round, and incredible marine life!

Snorkeling is at the heart of life in Dahab; whether you’re just looking to try it out for a day or are an experienced diver, you’re sure to find something to enjoy!

For advanced freedivers : If you have a buoy and a buddy, it’s good to know that dives can be free for you. The « Light House » bay is equiped with 6 mooring buoys accessible from the various cafés.

We recommend « El Primo Restaurant » for its comfort and calm.

These different buoys allow dives to 10,15,20, 30, 40 or 50 meters. If you don’t have your own equipment, you can rent a buoy : Call Snorkel Out Freediving (only for certified freedivers).

For dives over 50 meters, there’s Blue Hole with a maximum depth of 90 meters for more experienced divers.

You will be welcomed in Aqua Marina Restaurant by Ali.

For deep dives, we recommend safety divers and oxygen tank rentals.

Little snorkeling rules : Never touch the corals, never chase marine life, enjoy with your eyes and your Go Pro and take care !

Eel garden

The spot is here
You can start your trip from Eel Garden View Restaurant (food is good and they have a shower : https://maps.app.goo.gl/7nQqTmzs9EYpcTKd7).

Entrance is pretty rocky so better to start swimming early. Swim straight, a little bit on your left. You will find a drop and a bit further, a fine sand area with the famous Eels garden !

Then you can swim on the right and follow the reef all along to Light House (1,5h if you take your time).

The Islands

The spot is here

In the south of Dahab, at the beginning of Laguna’s beach. The coral formations here create natural passageways and « islands » of coral in shallow water.

Be careful with the wind and the current.

Nice to go there late afternoon to enjoy the sunset on the beach after your snorkeling.

Canyon

The spot is here

Located about 10km north of Dahab, near Blue Hole, the canyon is easily accessible by car.

You have a restaurant to put your stuff and have a drink after your snorkeling.

The canyon itself is too deep for snorkeling (20m+) but the reef around is really nice.

Blue Hole

The spot is here

Enter the water at The Bells, approximately 150m after the entrance of the National Park.

From there, drift south along the outer reef wall, enjoying the colorful corals and diverse fish species, until you reach the hole.

Be careful inside the Blue Hole, don’t go to close to the freediving buoy !
